"People might wonder why I chose to paint dogs and cats and I suppose the only answer I can give is that I am fascinated by their expressions. What are they thinking about? What do they make of us? The relationship between man and his pets has been ongoing for so long and therefore must be very special. I am hoping that my new paintings show how special it is. I also have spent many years making abstract paintings which are very colourful and some of my animal paintings reflect my love of colour and a certain amount of quirkiness." Paula Zimmermann

Paula Zimmermann was born in Cambridge in 1950, and left school without any qualifications or expectations. At the age of 39 she decided that there was more to life and began studying at the Peterborough Regional College.

After 5 years part time study she gained four G.C.S.Es and four A levels and went to Scarborough University College to study painting, ceramics and art history. She graduated with a B.A.(Hons) in 1998.

Paula has exhibited widely not only in Yorkshire but also further afield with Thompsons Gallery in London and Aldborough, the Media Centre in London, the Circle Gallery in Edinburgh, Tracey MacNee Gallery in Glasgow, the Glasgow Art Fair and other galleries in Peterborough, Stamford and Oxford.

With our contemporary art gallery in Glasgow City Centre, we at Tracey McNee Fine Art aim to supply quality mid-career artists' works to the discerning collector. The gallery exhibits varied works with an emphasis on high quality figurative oil paintings from Scottish artists.
